Wood Turning

During this 10 week course, participants will learn the basic skill of turning. You will work on a variety of projects, making your own pieces. All skill levels are welcome, from those with absolutely no previous experience, to those who have been turning for a while and who would like to learn new skills. Since there will be one lathe per student, you will have plenty of hands-on practice and ample tutor attention. This also allows you work at your own pace. You will make a variety of items using a range of techniques. Typical items made include candlesticks, baby rattles, doorstops, table lamps, decorative mushrooms, eggcups, tealight holders, bowls and kitchen roll holders.

Materials (wood etc.) are not included in the cost of the course. Students can bring their own wood, or we can supply it for an additional fee. Cost will be between €25.00 and €30.00 dependent on materials supplied & used. As woodturning produces sawdust and chippings old clothes should be worn.

Class size is kept small so that everyone has access to a lathe. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
