There will one class dedicated to Flower Making
The second half of the course is all about finishing your Hat/Headpiece.

Hand/Needle sewing knowledge would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Tutor:
Claire FitzGerald has been knitting both personally and professionally for the past 20 years. She has worked as a Design Consultant for Rowan Yarns, worked as a pattern writer for the knitwear designer Jo Storie, has published her own independent knitwear designs and currently works as a pattern grader for Eiru. She is also on the Steering Committee for Fibreshed Ireland, working towards revitalising a sustainable textile industry in Ireland.
Course Description:
Unlock your creative potential with our beginner and improvers knitting course. Designed for both absolute beginners and those looking to refresh or expand their skills, this hands-on course guides you through foundational stitches, pattern reading, and finishing techniques at a relaxed, welcoming pace.
You will learn:
Beginners:
Learn casting on, knit and purl stitches, casting off, and basic tension control while completing your first project.
Improvers:
Master shaping, using colour and textural stitches, and fixing common mistakes.
By the end of the course, you will be able to choose the right yarn and needles for future projects and have the confidence to tackle patterns on your own.
Materials needed include yarn and needles for the first night and the tutor will discuss further with you.
Crochet Beginners & Improvers

Course details:
This class is designed to teach new skills in a friendly and relaxed environment. Whether you're a beginner or an improver, Carmel will help you create handmade items to be proud of over the course of the ten weeks.
Materials: A crochet hook (4mm, 4.5mm or 5mm) and wool if desired. Double knit recommended with size 4.5mm hook.
Beginners should bring some double knit or Aran weight wool and a crochet hook to match. The recommended hook size will be written on the ball of wool.

Discover the magic of Needle Felting.
Using wool and fibres instead of paint, Barbara will guide you through the essential techniques required to create stunning felted pictures. Together, you will experiment with colour, texture, layering and blending.
Needle felting is not only incredibly fun but also remarkably forgiving, ensuring beautiful results every time.
Be warned, needle felting is very addictive!
Note, there will be an additional one off charge of €35 for Beginners only for all materials provided throughout the course.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this hands-on workshop is designed to turn your machine into your favourite creative tool with Prajjwala Satti, a textile designer and educator with a passion for sustainable fashion. This class provides a supportive, paced environment for learners of all abilities.
So come learn how to master your machine settings, troubleshoot common issues like tension snarls and broken threads, and discover practical techniques to repair, alter and upcycle your existing wardrobe. Along the way you will craft charming, small seasonal items and unique gifts for family and friends.
What You Will Learn:

Course Details:
During this course you will upholster a piece of furniture under the guidance of Valerie O’Donoghue. Valerie has many years’ experience in both furniture design and restoration.
Students bring in their furniture and it is assessed by Valerie. For beginners it is advisable to start with something small like a dining chair either with springs, foam or a drop in seat.
Valerie will help you to learn essential upholstery skills at your own pace with advice on basics such as using tools and choosing the right stitches and textiles and in doing so complete your project.
Materials/equipment required: tack lifter, tack hammer, stapler, 10mm staples, webbing, hessian, foam, horsehair, calico, twine, scissors, pencil and a dressmaker’s measuring tape.
Class size is limited to just 10, ensuring that you receive all the tutor guidance that you require, but because of the small class numbers, places are likely to fill up quickly. Book early to avoid
disappointment.

Monday & Wednesday - (Suitable for Beginners)

1 Lathe per student
Maximum 9 students per class.
Bring:
Notepad, pen & pencil.
Each week a new project will be demonstrated and students then make their own piece. A
project sheet will also be provided each night. As students work the tutor will circulate to
advise and answer any questions.
The tutor will describe and demonstrate the correct use of various Woodturning tools and chisels as the weeks progress, including tool sharpening.
All materials such as wood (pre-cut to size), abrasives and finishing waxes / polishes are supplied at an extra cost of €30.00 each, payable to the tutor early in the term.
Depending on how course nights fill up, experienced turners will be catered for, but with
possibly less time compared to a Thursday night.
Woodturning (Experienced)
Course Commencement: 01.10.26
Day/Time: Thursday 7:30-9:30pm
(Suitable for students who have completed the Beginners course before).
Duration: 10 weeks

Format: In person
1 Lathe per student.
Maximum 9 students per class.
Bring: Notepad, pen & pencil.
Projects are more advanced than those in the Beginners course, with a higher concentration on Faceplate turning and the use of Chucks. As students work the tutor will circulate to advise and answer any questions.
The tutor will demonstrate each project and provide a project sheet. Some projects will take two nights to complete.
All materials are provided at an extra cost, up to a value of €30.00 each, payable to the tutor. Each week a note will be kept of material costs and students will be advised of the final charge, towards the latter end of the term.
Depending on how course nights fill up, beginners will be catered for, but with possibly less time compared to a Monday or Wednesday night.
