This ten week course is an introduction to the art of the short story and personal essay. Students will be familiarized with some of the finest examples from these short-form genres and learn the essential techniques and methods involved. The reading and production requirements for this class are light. Optional exercises are provided each week. Any work submitted will receive feedback and encouragement. The focus of this class is on understanding the basics of composition in fiction and non-fiction, what constitutes good style, and the fundamentals involved in editing one’s own work.

Whether you are new to fly tying, or a seasoned fly crafter, knowing how to tie your own flies is greatly rewarded with more hook-ups and the satisfaction that you fooled the fish. This course will help you create specialty flies to set your day on the water apart from others. Your hand tied flies will save you time & money and catch more fish! You'll learn how to assess and manage a range of injuries and illnesses, including cardiac arrest, choking, and severe bleeding. With hands-on training and expert guidance, you'll gain the confidence to act quickly and decisively when it matters most.
