Nutrition Course

Our nutrition course looks specifically at the role of herbs and other plants in everyday health.

Diet, Herbs & Health: bringing it all together

Day/Time: Tuesday 7:00-8:30pm
Duration: 8 weeks
Tutor: Miriam McDonald
Fee: €90
Format: Online

This is a unique course combining a look at everyday foods and herbs.  It explores how readily available foods and plants can help you and how you can use them on a daily basis.

Each week we will take an in-depth look at specific foods and plants.  What’s growing in your area.  How can you use them and why they are good for you.
At the end of the course you will be able to identify (and talk about) some common herbs, you will have reviewed your diet and made some changes. You will also know what you should have to hand for first aid situations.

Topics will include:
• What do we mean by nutrition and herbs?
• There’s so much information – we strip it down to what and how you should eat for your needs.
• Foods for common conditions
• Everyday herbs for common conditions
• The benefits of everyday plants and how to use them
• What’s the deal with superfoods?
• What can I do nutritionally for conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes.
• First Aid herbs – what should be in every home

During the programme we will carry out a brief analysis of your current diet and identify what you might like to add to improve your health.
