Furniture Restoration and Upholstery Courses

We currently run a furniture restoration/conservation course and two upholstery courses for adults.

Furniture Conservation/​Restoration

​Day/Time: Wednesday 7:30-9:30pm
Duration: 10 weeks
Tutor: David Marshall
Fee: €140
Format: In person


During this course you will restore an old chair under the guidance of David Marshall, and pick up antique furniture conservation tips along the way. Class size is limited to just 12, ensuring that you receive all the tutor guidance that you require, but because of the small class numbers, places are likely to fill up quickly. Book early to avoid disappointment. Please bring a suitable piece of furniture to restore. If you would like to discuss the sort of project that you could work on, contact the class tutor David on 0871683166. David is an experienced professional and recently completed work in the Irish Museum of Time.

Upholstery (Beginners)

​​Day/Time: Monday 7:30-9:30pm
Duration: 10 weeks

Valerie O’Donoghue
Fee: €140
Format: In person

During this course you will upholster a piece of furniture under the guidance of Valerie O’Donoghue. Valerie has many years’ experience in both furniture design and restoration, and in addition to helping you complete your project, she will help you acquire the skills to complete other upholstery projects. Class size is limited to just 12, ensuring that you receive all the tutor guidance that you require, but because of the small class numbers, places are likely to fill up quickly. Book early to avoid disappointment. Materials/equipment required: webbing, hessian, foam, horsehair, calico, twine, and a dressmaker’s measuring tape. Please bring a suitable piece of furniture to upholster. If you would like to discuss the sort of project that you could work on, contact the class tutor Valerie on 0879067604 or email her at vod.4odo@gmail.com.
