The purpose of the level 6 award in Personal and Professional Development is to provide learners with the skill, knowledge and competence to utilise a range of advanced interpersonal and personal skills in a variety of personal, civic and vocational contexts and to enable them to operate autonomously or in a supervisory capacity.
Among the topics covered in this QQI-certified component module are the principles and practice of personal development; the personal skills and qualities needed for effective participation in a chosen job or organisation; the role and practice of time management; problem-solving and decision making; goals and objectives; organising and managing change; strategies to resolve personal or interpersonal conflict; delegating tasks including planning and identification of strengths and skills in others; responding appropriately to feedback and constructive criticism on personal performance; and strategies to cope with setbacks, workplace pressure and stress.
