Cookery Courses

We currently offer two practical, hands-on cookery courses for adults. Participants bring their own ingredients and after a demonstration by the tutor prepare and cook a different meal each week.

Chinese Cookery

​Day/Time: Monday 6:30-8:00pm
Duration: 8 weeks
Tutor: Fei
Fee: €120


This is a practical hands-on cooking class with tasting in the class. It will cover various typical and easy to learn Chinese dishes, with an emphasis on healthy eating. The tutor will demonstrate the dishes, and then participants will cook with his assistance. Participants must bring their own ingredients each week. 

​Students will provide their own ingredients, and ingredient lists will be circulated by email in advance of the classes. Please provide a valid email address when booking onto the course, to ensure that you receive this important information. Don't forget to bring containers each week to take your food home in. You will also need to bring your own tea towel. Saucepans and other equipment will be provided. The tutor will let you know if any particular equipment is required for any of the dishes.Please note that numbers are restricted so that each attendee has access to a cooker and workspace. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Healthy Cooking

Duration: 10 weeks

Over the course of 10 weeks participants will cook a variety of delicious, healthy family meals. By the end of the course they will have gained skills and confidence in preparing food from a number of different cuisines. 

The tutor will normally set the meals to be cooked for the first few weeks, before taking on board suggestions of course participants. A typical 10-week course would include some of the following dishes:
  • Mixed vegetable soup and soda bread
  • Mexican bean casserole
  • Chicken and vegetable stir fry
  • Byriani with yogurt and cucumber raita
  • Tacos with homemade guacamole and salsa
  • Chile con carne
  • Chicken curry
  • Raspberry and banana muffins
  • Chickpea and coriander soup
  • Seafood chowder
  • Chicken fajitas
  • Spaghetti meatballs
  •  Salmon in Filo pastry
