Courses offered inclue art and hobby classes such as woodturning, bridge and patchwork, Spanish and Chinese language classes, exercise classes, choir groups, computer classes and professional classes which result in qualifications (iPass and First Aid). Courses run for 8 to 10 weeks and are open to anybody aged 16 or older. The full list of courses can be viewed here.
We have served the communities of Balally, Dundrum, Sandyford and Stepaside for more than 25 years, and now, thanks to the instillation of the Luas and the extension of the M50 in the past decade, participants come from right across Dublin and neighbouring counties.

Payments
Your place on a course can only be guaranteed once full payment has been made. A debit or credit card is required to enrol online or over the phone, though cheque payments can be made on the enrolment evening or by post. Please put your card number on the back of cheques.
Online Payments with Easy Payments Plus
Easy Payments Plus is the online payments system which we use to accept debit or credit card payments. When you click on the Enrol Online button on our homepage or any of the EPP symbols on our list of courses, you will be taken to the St Tiernan's Adult Education section of the Easy Payments Plus website.
You will be prompted to register with your email address and password the first time you use this system. Follow the instructions on the screen to select the appropriate items(s) and enter your card details when prompted. You will receive a receipt via email for every payment you make. Once registered, you can log in to your account at any time and look at payments you have made.
All payments processed using EPP are done using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology which ensures the security of the transaction as it is being processed. All payments are processed by a PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant payment processor, which ensures all card holder data is managed securely.

Refunds
All our courses are non-refundable, unless there are insufficient numbers for the class to form. A small number of classes do not form each term, and in such cases, students who have enrolled will be notified and can either swap to another class or be offered a full refund. There is no discount for those who cannot attend all evenings of the course.
Concessions and discounts
We offer discounts for those over 65. Please mention this when making the booking, as it is difficult to apply the concession once payment details have been entered. We also apply a discount to those booking on two or more courses (for the same individual in the same term). Concessions and discounts are not applied if you enrol yourself online.
Why we ask for your contact details
When enrolling on a course, you will be asked for your contact details. We do not distribute or sell these details to anybody outside of the St Tiernan's Community School Adult Education programme. Your address is gathered to validate your credit card details, and gives us some idea of where participants come from (which helps us to promote our courses). Your mobile number is used should we need to contact you for any reason. If classes are cancelled for at short notice for any reason (e.g. tutor illness; snow), we will send you a text message. A receipt for your payment will automatically be sent to your email address. Teachers also use their class email lists to distribute ingredient lists (cookery classes), and any other lists of equipment. We may also, from time to time, send you emails or text messages to remind you the enrolments are open.
Closed days
Classes do not run on bank holidays, but do run on days that are not bank holidays during midterm breaks (unless the class decides otherwise). Dates for the current term can be viewed in the footer at the bottom of this page. Replacement classes for courses which fall on a bank holiday will be added to the end of the programme (i.e. they will take place the week after other courses of the same length finish). This also happens if a class is cancelled for teacher illness, snow, or any other reason.
New courses
We are always looking for ideas of new classes that we can run, and for new teachers. If there is a course that you would like to see offered, or if you are suitably qualified and would like to run a class, then please get in touch.
